Get to Know Michael

Michael Poynter brings over 40 years of distinguished public service experience, having led operations and emergency personnel across a broad range of critical environments. His expertise spans all major branches of Emergency Services—including Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Fire Service.
 

Throughout his career, Mike has responded to hundreds of major incidents and played a pivotal role in training emergency responders from around the globe. His operational excellence includes service as a Tactical Paramedic with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team and as a Flight Paramedic at a Level 1 Trauma Center. In these roles, he managed a variety of responsibilities involving special operations, training, aviation, and the coordination of Emergency Services personnel.
 

Mike served a decade as the State Director for Emergency Medical Services for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. His leadership and influence extend to national and academic circles. A respected voice in the field, Mike has been widely published in peer-reviewed and trade journals and has delivered keynote presentations at regional, national, and international conferences. He currently serves as a Senior Consultant with Fitch & Associates, where he continues to contribute his vast experience to the advancement of emergency services leadership.
 

In recognition of his lifelong contributions, Mike was recently inducted into the Cave City, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. He resides in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife and two children.out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.
